Abstract

"Focus on Safety & Security" piece on "ethical hackers," such as David Jacquet of Red Cell Security in Scarborough, whom companies hire to hack into their networks as a test of their security measures. In 2005, proceeds from cyber crime first exceeded the proceeds from illegal drug sales. Andrew Robinson founded NMI InfoSecurity Solutions in Portland in 1990, when it was one of the first such companies in the country. Jaquet says he has had a 90 percent success rate hacking into systems over the past three months. With details on how he conducts his probes.
