Abstract

"Focus on Safety & Security" piece on Technology Systems Inc. of Brunswick, founded by Chuck Benton in 1981. TSI designs applications for the U.S. Department of Defense, such as augmented reality navigational and tactical systems. Benton, who fosters a creative work environment at his Fort Andros Mill location, says most of his 19 employees were born and raised in Maine. After Hurricane Katrina blew away buoys in the Gulf of Mexico, a Maine Maritime Academy boat outfitted with TSI technology was able to recreate the buoys on a display screen so it could navigate safely to provide disaster relief.
