Abstract

"Capitol Update" piece reporting that the UMaine System (UMS) may take advantage of a Federal Communications Commission (FCC) decision that will improve its instructional television service, help Maine gain access to broadband Internet and generate new revenue for state universities. The FCC is allowing educational institutions with broadcast licenses for instructional programs to lease some of that scarce capacity to private wireless providers. UMS has 26 transmission sites.
