Abstract

Equality Maine is widening its scope to include local businesses in an attempt to attract talented gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered workers and to support those that are already here. The Convention and Visitors' Bureau of Greater Portland is trying to attract more GLBT tourists to the city. Research shows a correlation between a flourishing creative economy and a diverse and open community. With statistics on the GLBT community in Maine and comments by Brian Sandberg, Equality Maine's development director.
