Abstract

"Capitol Update" piece on the food stamp benefit, which is not rising despite soaring food prices. Tom Keyes, deputy director of the Dept. of Health and Human Services' Office of Integrated Access and Support, the state agency that administers the food stamp program, said the number of Mainers receiving food stamps is increasing. U.S. Rep. Mike Michaud (D-Maine) and U.S. Senator Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) both support an increase in the level of benefits in the Farm Bill.
