Abstract

"Inside Out" piece on Maine's high energy costs, noting that the challenge brings opportunity for Maine companies to solve the problem. Electricity costs for the average industrial customer in Maine were 120 percent higher than the national average last year. In addition, Maine's industrial customers saw a 30 percent increase during the same time period, versus a 4 percent increase nationally. With comments on Ocean Renewable Power Company in Eastport, which focuses on tidal power; and Ascendant Energy of Rockland, one the nation's most innovative solar power companies.
