Abstract

Boatbuilders in Maine, like Holland's Boat Shop in Belfast, are being affected by a decline in the lobster industry. With catches down, slipping prices, and soaring fuel costs, many lobstermen aren't upgrading their boats. Glenn Holland is laying off workers and contemplating building smaller, cheaper boats, while focusing more on lobster yachts for recreational boaters. With a graph of lobster landings and revenues, which peaked in 2005.
