Abstract

"Focus on Banking & Finance" piece on how some Maine business people are using social lending sites like Prosper.com to obtain loans from strangers. The "peer to peer" lending market allows borrowers to get loans that bankers won't touch or to find better rates on loans. Lenders in turn can earn higher returns than those on many conventional investments.
