Abstract

"Newsworthy" piece with a profile of Benjamin Brickett of Eliot, an inventor who has built a "variable force generator" wind turbine that converts the force from the blades directly into AC electricity, bypassing the conventional gear box. His prototype has one moving part and could be twice as energy-efficient as existing windmills. He wants to sell the first prototypes through his company, Blue Water Concepts, for $5,000 to $10,000 each, tracking and improving the turbines based on customer feedback.
