Abstract

"Focus on Greater Bangor" piece on Bangor International Airport, which Director Rebecca Hupp is trying to expand in a shaky industry. Although passenger traffic has been increasing, Continental and Delta airlines both pulled out of the airport earlier this month. In 2005, Colorado-based Boyd Group predicted the airport would have the fastest growth of any U.S. airport over the next five years, but industry changes have put a damper on BIA's plans for expansion. Despite these challenges, Hupp and airport officials are hopeful and positioning for an upswing. With a graph of annual passengers since 2004 and demographic snapshots of Bangor, Brewer, and Orono.
