Abstract

"Focus on Energy & Utilities" piece on Ocean Renewable Power Co. of Portland and President Chris Sauer, who is working on a commercially viable underwater power generator that would convert the strong tides off Eastport into electricity. ORPC has partnered with New York-based Caithness Development and won funding from the Maine Technology Institute. It has teamed up with several Maine composite companies and expects to directly employ up to 500 people and invest about $1 billion in the state over the next five to seven years. With a guide to proposed, approved, stalled, existing, and under-construction energy developments in Maine.
