Profile of Jeff Gammelin, who owns Freshwater Stone Inc., of Orland, where he builds custom creations out of locally quarried natural stone. The natural stone industry is enjoying rising popularity, fueled by interest in sustainable building practices. His company employs some 50 full-time workers. Gammelin no longer cuts stone but is still the designer and innovator at the company's core.
