Abstract

Lower overhead, accessible technology, and higher returns make home-based businesses efficient, despite the potential for the business to impinge upon the home. With a look at three home businesses: Christy Hemenway's Gold Star Honeybees in Bath; Ducktrap River of Maine, a smoked salmon business that started off in Des Fitzgerald's Lincolnville home before expanding; and Linda Varrell's Yarmouth-based communications company, Broadreach Public Relations.
