Abstract

J. Scott Moody, chief economist of The Maine Heritage Policy Center, discusses data that shows York County business startups are failing to create jobs. Between 1993 and 2007, there was an annual job deficit of 184 in the county. Though eating and drinking establishments are one of the top employers in the county, that industry has seen more jobs lost by failing businesses than have been created by new ones.
