Abstract

An article on the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's increased focus on employers in order to cut down on the hiring of illegal immigrants, placing the onus on businesses to verify documentation. Tourism and agriculture industries are especially scrutinized. Two Milbridge agricultural companies, Cherry Point Products and Jasper Wyman & Son, were recently fined for hiring undocumented workers, with Jasper Wyman & Son paying a fine of $118,000, the largest in New England this year.
