Abstract

"The Third Sector" piece on the Maine Community Foundation's 25/25 Nonprofit Endowment Challenge, which resulted in 19 nonprofits acquiring $50,000 each in permanent endowed funds. The drive was mostly focused on small community-based nonprofits that form the connective tissue of rural communities. Two recipients were Acadia Senior College and Centre Theater in Dover-Foxcroft. The theater founded the Maine Whoopie Pie Festival, among other events, to secure matching funds.
