Abstract

"Focus on Real Estate/Construction/Design" piece on how the recession and dwindling federal stimulus dollars are threatening energy-efficient home construction. The Maine Association of Building Efficiency Professionals organized its second annual training conference, in part to discuss the industry, which is in flux. Dan Kolbert, of Kolbert Building in Portland, discusses the myths, obstacles, and benefits of building energy-efficient homes, particularly in Maine, which has the oldest building stock in the country and is the most reliant on No. 2 heating oil.
