Abstract

"Capitol Update" piece on the Legislature's approval of a significantly modified and less controversial version of LD 1, a regulatory reform bill supported by Governor Paul LePage. The bill will create an environmental self-audit program with incentives to improve compliance, streamlines the Department of Environmental Protection's permit process to eliminate duplication, reduces the size of the Board of Environmental Protection to seven members, and strengthens the Department of Economic and Community Development's business assistance office.
