Abstract

"Capitol Update" piece on the reduction of the Legislature's budget by $8.3 million over the next two years, largely through implementation of austerity measures currently impacting other state workers such as changes in pension costs and the suspension of longevity and step increases. Also discusses controversial plans to increase State House security for a two year cost of $546,000.
