Abstract

"Capitol Update" piece about the Legislature's Transportation Committee's displeasure about the lack of expected funding for road and bridge repairs in the state general fund budget. Governor Paul LePage proposed putting $10 million from general state revenues toward highway fund projects, a reduction of his original $20 million proposal. In addition, the Transportation Committee also hoped to generate savings in the transportation budget by asking the general state budget to pay a larger share of the funding for the Maine State Police. Both proposals were cut by the appropriations committee but they did add two items in the budget to provide some funding for transportation projects.
