Abstract

"Capitol Update" piece on Correction Commissioner Joe Ponte's exploration of ways in which the state can cut health care costs for inmates until 2014 when the federal health care reform act will cover most of Maine's inmates. Ideas include tapping into Medicaid for those who meet guidelines and are admitted to a hospital for more than 24 hours and doing comparison shopping for prescriptions.
