Abstract

Maine Revenue Services has submitted a report on business tax breaks which includes the number of taxpayers claiming each tax credit as well as the dollar amount, but does not analyze how effective the tax breaks are in job creation. Some Maine lawmakers are calling for more information, as approximately 1,800 companies were reimbursed over $52.7 million last year in tax breaks.
