Abstract

Account of Smith's Farm in Aroostook County which supplies broccoli to markets as far west as the Mississippi and employs about 250 seasonal workers. The sixth-generation family farm grows broccoli on 4,000 acres, using high tech solutions such as GPS systems to guide tractors, as well as old, labor-intensive methods such as cutting each broccoli stalk by hand. They sell their produce under the Stag brand and have achieved a reputation for the freshness and quality of their product.
