Abstract

Annual panel of economic experts weigh in on the prospects for Maine’s economy in the coming year. The panel includes: Charles Colgan, professor of public policy and management at USM’s Muskie School; Jonathan Reisman, associate professor of economics and public policy at University of Maine Machias; Amanda Rector, Maine state economist; William Strauss, chief economist of Maine Pellet Fuels Association; and Charles Lawton, chief economist of Planning Decisions Inc. Among the questions they consider: what impact will the Affordable Care Act will have on Maine and what do they forecast for the housing market. With a sidebar in which last year’s panelists reflect on how well their 2012 predictions matched with reality.
