Abstract

An edited transcript of an interview with H. Bruce Rinker, the science advancement director at the Biodiversity Research Institute in Gorham. BRI studies the effects of pollutants on wildlife and ecosystems, for clients here in Maine and around the world. Rinker discusses BRI’s work with the Mexican state of Guerrero, assessing the impact of plastics, petroleum, and mercury on the local environment there. He also talks briefly about some of the institute’s other projects, about their funding, and about how they share their knowledge through publications and school programs.
