Abstract

Excerpts from an interview with Ed Meadows, the director of Land for Maine’s Future. Meadows worked for the Michigan Department of Natural Resources for over fifteen years and discusses how Michigan has used public recreation as part of their economic development plan. He has since moved back to Maine and talks about mandates from the Legislature, the program’s new place within the state government which he feels has created opportunities for synergy, and the coalitions that LMF has built with other agencies, towns and cities, nonprofits, and landowners.
