Abstract

Edited transcript of an interview with Tom Chappell. The founder of Tom’s of Maine (which he sold to Colgate-Palmolive Co. in 2006) has a new business, a sustainable clothing manufacturing company called Ramblers Way Farm. Chappell talks about why he sold Tom’s of Maine, why he attended Harvard Divinity School, and how he juggled keeping his soul with running a successful business. He also discusses aspects of his new business venture, including the dyeing operation in Kennebunk and where he expects sales to be in five years.
