Abstract

Carrie Fletcher, vice president of sail acquisition at Sea Bags, a Portland-based business that recycles retired sails to make bags and accessories, is interviewed about how she procures the sails, and the products the company makes. When asked if it is now more difficult to find sails now that other competitors have entered the market, she says that each company has a different design and type of product, so it has not been an issue. One of the overall goals of the company is to keep sails out of landfills, so outreach education is a big part of her job and a way of obtaining the sails.
