Abstract

The 127th Legislature has had to file a one-week extension to the statutory adjournment date of June 17 due to Governor Paul LePage’s 64 line-item budget vetoes. Lawmakers on both sides overturned the budget-lined vetoes and sent the 700-page $6.7 billion budget back to LePage. The bipartisan budget includes a fully paid for middle-class tax cut. The budget must be in place by July 1 to avoid a state government shutdown.
