Abstract

While Maine's food and beverage industry is seeing positive results on many fronts, a Harvard Kennedy School study indicates Maine's food and beverage industry is still fragmented and much can be done to fully leverage its food expertise among its stakeholders. One idea under consideration is that of creating a business accelerator that could help coordinate the several dozen food and beverage trade groups and support systems. The article details the advantages and disadvantages of implementing such a program. A graph indicating employment in Maine's traded food cluster in 2012 is included. [graph]
