Abstract

Isle au Haut, like many small towns in Maine, struggles with remaining a viable year around community. Challenges include an aging population, lack of jobs, and a limited workforce. The town is taking measures to diversify its economy, provide affordable housing, and other measures in order to attract more people to its year around community. A text box is included illustrating the population trends for Maine's year-round island communities since 2010. [images]
