Abstract

Account of a gale that occurred on September 8, 1869, which blew down the steeple of the Catholic Cathedral in Portland. The steeple, which was 108 feet tall, fell across Cumberland Street, breaking into the roof of the dwelling of Capt. E. B. Choate.
