Abstract

"this just in" piece on the key role played by Maine's U.S. Senators Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins in this week's federal budget negotiations. The key issue is the size of the included tax-cut package. Snowe was central in compromising with Senate Democrats and supporting lower cuts. Collins said that regardless of the eventual size of the tax cuts, the money set aside for tax cuts would have to be approved with further legislation anyway.
