Abstract

Carole Joffe, a national pro-choice activist, has been speaking at colleges and other institutions in the state this week about mifepristone, the American version of the French abortion drug RU-486, which is on its way to final Federal Drug Administration approval. She predicts that the pill will increase access to abortion services for women in Maine, where a decreased number of doctors performing the service and protests by anti-abortion activists can make getting an abortion difficult.
