Abstract

"art" piece reporting that the Portland Museum of Art (PMA) recently announced a two-year, $12 million capital campaign to acquire and preserve the Winslow Homer Studio in Prout's Neck. The PMA was the site of Homer's first exhibition in 1893, where he showed his painting "Signal of Distress." Over the following century, the museum acquired a significant collection of Homer paintings.
