Abstract

"this just in" piece on the Maine blueberry industry, with a focus on grassroots efforts to end the use of pesticides. Last week, advocacy groups Environment Maine, the Toxics Action Center, the Sierra Club, and Beyond Pesticides announced their intent to file a lawsuit against Jasper Wyman & Son, alleging that the company's aerial spraying violates the Clean Water Act. The groups were successful last fall in pressuring Cherryfield Foods, Maine's largest blueberry grower, to end aerial pesticide spraying. Details.
