Abstract

"Theater" piece on a ROIL production of "Close to Home," a voter-education show that dramatizes the fear-mongering associated with Question 1 on the November ballot. Mounted by the Maine Christian Civic League, the referendum would revoke a 2005 law that made it illegal to discriminate against homosexuals in the workplace, finance, and housing. "Close to Home" is being presented at various locations, beginning at Acoustic Coffee in Portland on October 4.
