Abstract

"Politics + Other Mistakes" piece the Maine Green Independent Party, predicting that 2006 could be a bad year for the party. The Greens must win at least 5 percent of the vote in the gubernatorial election to maintain their status as a recognized party. Though Green gubernatorial candidate Pat LaMarche will likely reach the 5 percent mark, the public may be turned off by recent allegations surrounding the party. A Green legislative candidate will face a fine for violating Clean Election regulations, and the Portland School Committee, with four Green members, may have violated the state's right-to know law by holding secret meetings.
