"This Just In" piece reporting that New Orleans police broke up a memorial service for Portland activist Meg Perry last weekend by handcuffing and searching Hurricane Katrina-relief volunteers who were reminiscing about the life of Perry. Perry was killed December 10 when the People's Free Space bus crashed on a Louisiana highway. Perry was in New Orleans with 12 volunteers she had recruited to go to the Gulf Coast to help with hurricane-relief efforts. The Maine volunteers will return to Maine in time for Perry's local memorial service, and most expect to return to the Gulf Coast to continue volunteering.
