Abstract

"Politics + Other Mistakes" piece on a 2000 Scripps Howard study indicating that Maine had about 56,000 more voters than people of voting age. State officials attribute the statistic to the fact that people on the voting lists had died or moved away, and that officials had not purged voting lists properly. In other political news, U.S. Rep Tom Allen, D-Maine, has said he intends to run for the U.S. Senate in 2008 against incumbent Susan Collins, R-Maine.
