"Politics + Other Mistakes" piece commenting on the August 2nd Maine Land Use Regulation Commission's (LURC) public hearing on the proposal to build 30 wind turbines on Redington and Black Nubble mountains. The proposal had many politicians touting the environmental assets of the plan, though they most likely support the project for its profit potential. Owners of wind farms receive a federal tax credit and other tax breaks. The wind farm being built in Mars Hill has already qualified for a property tax rebate of $250,000 a year.
