Abstract
"Art" piece featuring an interview in question-and-answer format with George Smith, founding director of the Institute for Doctoral Studies in the Visual Arts (ISDVA). When the ISDVA receives its final permissions from the state Legislature in early 2007, Maine will become home to the first Ph.D. program in visual arts in America. Smith discusses the roots of the program and the course of study.
