Abstract

Proponents of a statewide anti-discrimination bill, the 12th to be introduced since 1977, are gearing up for another push through the Maine legislature, promising once and for all to provide equal rights to everyone in the state. If the bill meets with success in Augusta, and many legislators predict that it will, Maine's gays and lesbians will be on their way to another statewide referendum in November 2000 in an effort to receive equal treatment in housing, credit, public accomodation and employment.
