Abstract
"Politics + Other Mistakes" piece commenting on the relative unimportance of the Maine caucuses. A return to primary elections would allow more broad participation. The record turnout at this year's Democratic caucuses was about 46,000, compared to 160,000 voters in the 2000 Democratic primary. The Republican caucuses this year drew under 5,000.
