Abstract

"Threads" piece on Cynthia McGuirl's Thomaston studio, where she takes three to four weeks to set up her loom for one-of-a-kind designs, which she turns into chenille kimonos and wraps. She uses the design a few times with different color schemes. One of her ancestor was a silk weaver in Turkey, and old family rugs were some of her first inspirations.
