Abstract

"Chowder" piece reporting that Jon Tierney of Orono recently became the first Mainer, and one of just 35 Americans, to become certified by the International Federation of Mountain Guides. Tierney, 45, said the certification brings him full circle after suffering a severe spine injury three years ago just hours before attempting the final tier of certification tests.
