Abstract

Profile of Portland artist Frank Menair, 31, whose artistic experiment, Projectatrain, has caught the attention of the local contemporary art scene. Menair creates photographs by projecting images onto trains passing through the Maine wilderness at night, and capturing the resulting scenes with still and video photography. Menair, an instructor at Maine College of Art, said the photographs are labor-intensive, requiring 450 pounds of equipment to be hauled into the woods.
