Abstract

Profile of South Portland artist Brett Bigbee, whose portrait of his sons James and Joe has been chosen to hang in the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C. Bigbee, 51, says his work is modeled after early Renaissance artists whose work is posed and formal, with a powerful stare. Bigbee has had recent solo exhibitions at the Farnsworth Art Museum, the Butler Institute of American Art, the Portland Museum of Art, and New York galleries.
