Abstract

Despite Maine's low murder rate, about 70 murder cases have remained unsolved over the past 40 years. With details on three unsolved cases, including the 1999 strangulation of 15-year-old Ashley Ouellette of Saco; the 1999 disappearance of Angel "Tony" Torres, 21, of Denmark, who was last seen in Biddeford; and the 1974 murder of Joyce Tanerillo, 29, who was found strangled in her car in South Portland. In each case, police believe there is information that those close to the crime are not sharing.
