Abstract

Article on animal-vehicle collisions, with comments by Tim Perry, who was 18 years old when his truck collided with a moose on the Maine Turnpike in Biddeford on Memorial Day 1992. In the two-year period from 2005 to 2006 there were 5,690 recorded deer crashes and 1,310 recorded moose crashes in Maine. With detailed statistics from the Maine Department of Transportation on the number of moose and deer collisions with vehicles, crashes by time of day, and crashes by month.
